MechWarrior: Online - King Crab Sneak Peak (Details)

Well guess what? Varro is back baby!! Did ya miss me? Probably not :P

And to celebrate my return to the blogging and gaming industry, is some really super sweet information that I found! And it's all about the King Crab (courtesy of NGNG). I'll be replicating all information and images here along with my thoughts. Saves you from more linkage.

Varro is still alive!! Just MIA...

As stated, I've noticed I've been missing for the past month. Exams and such are a pain!
But regardless I'm still alive! Just life is taking it's toll. Least the weight of it all is a pain... Also job seeking isn't much fun either...

Not gonna bore you with the details. Just posting might be slow; really hoping this year will end in something uplifting cos so far, this year hasn't been that great. With the death of a loved one and all...

MechWarrior: Online - Atlas (AS7-S) Build

So the freebie Atlas has been out for just over a week now! And it's high time I present to you guys a build that's been working really well. One might think it's not as powerful as some other dedicated builds. But this build works really well, and works well in a PUG environment.

However, I will say I've ran this build with my ACES buddies and we decided to do a triple Atlas group; so it was me in my AS7-S and them in their 2 D-DC's respectively. It still worked very well.

MechWarrior: Online - Stormcrow SCR-PRIME (Any OmniVariant) Build

So for today's post, the third and final Stormcrow build. Well not the final, I'm sure to have more Stormcrow builds in the future. But for these past few days, it's all been about my favourite weight class, the Medium Mechs!

Again, I have 2 different builds today. The first is for when you don't have Elite fully unlocked. The 2nd, is for when you're SCR-PRIME is fully Elited with double Basics. This is mostly due the the absurd heat of the Mech!

MechWarrior: Online - Stormcrow SCR-D (Any OmniVariant) Build

For today's build; there will be in fact 2 different builds. Both are utilising the same OmniPoints with similar play styles. I think it's fairly easy to guess what builds are appearing today in this post!!

Simply put... ROCKETS!! MUHAHAHAHAHA!!! ALL THE ROCKETS!!!

MechWarrior: Online - Stormcrow SCR-C (Any OmniVariant) Build

Well thanks to that really useful event last weekend; Stormcrows are now on sale for both MC and CBills! Ironically; the amount of haters for this event makes... I cannot think of a good analogy. Oh I know! Makes even Shirou feel loved!

Seriously; why hate on such a good event? Take advantage of it! Take advantage of anything that comes free or things that come with a discount! We're not all rich bastards you know! Like I said; I shall be exploiting this discount! I picked up all 3 Stormcrows!

Now the thing with a Stormcrow; is that it's a Medium Mech! It has extremely good speed; pretty good Firepower and is very versatile. Easily the best Clan Medium Mech in the game so far.

MechWarrior: Online - Firestarter Build Dump

'Build Dump' is a segment where I basically dump a huge amount of Mech Builds in one go. These builds can range anywhere between "Tried and Tested" to a complete new "Theory Build".

Unfortunately, due to how many Mech Builds are being dumped, I won't be putting any description of how that build should be played (I'll leave that for the individual Mech Build posts).

Without further ado, let's dump the builds!

MechWarrior: Online - Pre-Release Hellbringer (Loki) Build Ideas

Well this is basically part 2 to my Hellbringer (Loki) Pre-Release build ideas! You can tell I'm obsessed when I can concoct builds prior to them being released anywhere! Nothing beats the old school "Pen and Paper!".

I'm not really utilising all the coo little OmniPoints of the Loki; such as the Head Energy Hardpoint; but that's because of the heat management. Each of these builds I reckon will run pretty darn hot! Especially if you arm say a Timber Wolf or Stormcrow or some other Clan Mechs with the same weapons, it'll at best have a 36% Cooling Efficiency - AND that's before we take into account quirks!!

MechWarrior: Online - Shadow Hawk SHD-2K Build

With Community Warfare (hopefully being) implemented soonTM; it's time to start practicing and going back to the old Inner Sphere Mechs. And they are in truly need of an overhaul. Clan Mechs are powerful; but far from OP. However IS pilots will need to change their tactics (which many are loath to do so).

In truth; I have more fun piloting my Clan Mechs more than any other Mech. I mean after all; all my favourite Mechs are Clan Mechs and late era Mechs - Fafnir anyone?

Check it out right meow!

MechWarrior: Online - Pre-Release Hellbringer (Loki) Build Ideas

I am absolutely obsessed with the Hellbringer (Loki) - you know what? I'm just gonna use Loki as it's absolutely faster to type than Hellbringer. I have been looking forward to the inclusion of the Loki since the announcement of Clan Mechs. Hell Cattra and LtRics have probably been on the receiving end of my Loki obsessed rants!!

So how obsessed am I exactly? Obsessed enough to actually concoct several builds for a Mech that is 3 Months way from release. And thanks to a little but of intelligence and maths (or just insanity, probably the latter) I basically worked out how much Tonnage I can play with.

MechWarrior: Online - Hellbringer (Loki) Variants Speculation

So just yesterday Russ Bullock announced all the super duper FREE stuff we can get and what the next Clan Wave 2 will comprise of!! So first up, we have the Mist Lynx (Koshi), Ice Ferret (Fenris), Hellbringer (Loki) and Gargoyle (Man O'War).

I'll ignore the beloved Mad Dog (Vulture) because that's an awesome FREEBIE but you have to buy both the Masakari and Man-O-War package to get that for free.

Out of these 4 Mechs, the only 2 I reckon that are actually pretty awesome and worth it are the Hellbringer and Gargoyle. Even then the Hellbringer takes the cake as being the easy best and most anticipated out of those 4. Ok this is super biased as I absolutely LOVE the Loki!

And for this post! It's all about the Hellbringer (Loki)! Note that I'll be using each name interchangeably!

MechWarrior: Online - Timber Wolf, TBR-C Build

So... I finally found a new ballistic and totally super fun build! From the image above, you can probably guess what kind of build it has! I tell you what; no wonder people love the 6x CUAC5 Dire Wolf!! The amount of DAKKA you throw out is absolutely amazing!!

Well, it's half that for the Timber Wolf... BUT at least I get some fantastic speed!!

Check it out right meow!

MechWarrior: Online - Timber Wolf Any OmniVariant Build

I have seriously gotta stop piloting the Timber Wolf... But it is truly a fantastic Heavy Mech; probably even the best Heavy Mech in the game! It's got a really nice hitbox; great versatility and a good mixture of Armour, Speed and Firepower!

It can practically do almost anything you want it to!!

Oh well; I'll keep messing around with as many Timber Wolf builds as I can till PGI give me my Mad Dog (Vulture) and Hellbringer (Loki).

Check it out right meow!

Space Wolves (7th Edition) Army List

Like i said once before; whenever I begin building an army; I always like to prepare and build towards an army list. Mind you I have a Contemptor Dreadnought and 10 Wolf Guard Terminators lying around waiting to be build. But that's because I just love building anything that looks awesome.

Regardless; this is what I plan to collect and to use in a 2000 points army.

MechWarrior: Online - Timber Wolf Prime (Any OmniVariant) Build

This build is built by one of the ACES crew; in which I decided to play test. I did after all need a new build to run on the Prime variant to replace my Misaka (Triple PPC TWolf). This build is truly the bomb! And it looks like it's slowly becoming more popular (specially now that we need something to replace the CERLL).

Saturday, 23 August 2014

MechWarrior: Online - Raven RVN-3L Build

So after going on a MWO hiatus; I've deiced to play it once again. Mostly chose to take a break due to PGI's stupid decision to make CERLL be able to only fire one Large Laser at a time. They rolled this back, most likely due to the amount of emails asking for refunds. Wouldn't surprise me; I was so close to being one of those angry peeps!!

Regardless; today isn't about Clan Mechs at all! It's actually about one of the best Light Mechs in the game; quite possibly the best in my eyes.

The Jenner use to reign supreme out of all the Light Mechs - 6 Medium Lasers and Jump Jets anyone? But then Jump Jets got nerfed...

Now the Raven is on top; and truth be told; the Raven is probably hands down the coolest looking Light Mech in the game! Why? Chicken legs!! Reverse leg Mechs are always simply the coolest things around; it's why people (me) love the Clan Mechs so much!

Oh any here's another thing; you'll notice I don't do many posts on Light Mechs. That's mostly due to the fact that I've never been a good Light Mech Pilot. Now I'm actually pretty good. My mate did say; when you take a break from a game; sometimes, magically, you'll be good at something you weren't before.

Space Wolves 7th Edition Codex - First Impressions

As soon as the new Space Wolves Codex was released; I rushed straight to my local Games Workshop to immediately pick up said Codex (as well as the Space Wolves novel Stormcaller). And so for the majority of my weekend was spent reading the new Codex. Tell you what; I actually really love the new Codex. Sure it removed and nerfed several things Space Wolves-esque; but also buffed some things.

Here's a hint; Logan Grimnar is a beast!! And I don't just mean the Canis Helix!!

Sons of Horus Contemptor Dreadnought [WIP]

Welp; I've finally returned from my long as hiatus from Warhammer! This is mostly thanks to Eternal Crusade; but also because I've needed the distraction from real life and games. Somehow I got inspiration from a tad bit of depression...

Regardless; out of all the Legiones Astartes, my favourites would have to be the Sons of Horus/Luna Wolves and the Vlyka Fenryka (Space Wolves)! I super cannot wait for the new Codex and Models!! I see so many opportunities for conversions with that new Space Wolves Dreadnought!!

Anyway, today is about the Sons of Horus Contemptor Dreadnought!

MechWarrior: Online - Timber Wolf, TBR-C (Any OmniVariant) Build

Well; thanks to the new patch (July 15th, 2014) Clan LRMs have finally had their minimum range removed. That is; they now no longer have minimum range; albeit they do less damage at any range less than 180; but it's better than no damage.

About bloody time I say! This should've been implemented right from the start. But hey, I guess better late then never ay?

I reckon you can probably guess today's build ay?

Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade

So I recently signed up for the Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade Founder Pack. Actually I signed up today really! I was originally on the fence about purchasing the Founder's Pack. I mean there are a lot of negatives when I think clearly about it (none of which I'll name; but you can easily guess).

After some tragic life events (post on that when I get the heart); I figured spending $40 to support a game I hope becomes really good; seemed like a pretty good idea. I mean if you have $40 saved on the side for games/models; might as well use it here.

I mean the goodies I get for it are pretty good. I get to reserve the much coveted name of Thaddeus (or in this case Varro Thaddeus). I also get 40,000 Rogue Trader Points (RTP, similar to MechWarrior's MC). I also get Beta access and can reserve a Guild name. Most likely I shall be thinking of some awesome Space Marine Squad name.

Regardless; there's a whole bunch of information about Eternal Crusade. And also I shall reveal my referral code for people to get some extra RTP.

MechWarrior: Online - Timber Wolf, TBR-PRIME (Any OmniVariant) Build

Truth be told; the title should actually read TBR-S (Any OmniVariant) Build rather than PRIME. Mostly because I actually used this build on my TBR-S; I managed to get to Master with this build!

During the grind; I partially fell in love with this build (its got nothing to do with the Anime character I named it off). Ironically it doesn't even have CSRM6s!! Or any SRMs for that matter!!

One can argue that it's kind of a "cheesey" build. And I would agree with thee to a certain degree. But it actually takes quite a bit of skill to use this build. More so than the simple "MetaWolf" of a CGauss and 2 CERPPC! After all; it takes someone with good heat management skills to actually pilot today's build.

MechWarrior: Online - Warhawk, WHK-PRIME (Any OmniVariant) Build

THEORY TUESDAY

I have another Theory build in which I need a gullible guinea pig to test this for me. Truth be told; on paper this thing is a beast with an extremely high Alpha whilst still remaining (relatively) heat neutral. The DPS is also very high. I will admit that it is rather hot, but that can be negated with a Coolshot and/or an Elite-ed Warhawk.

Animation 'of the Month'

'of the Month' is a segment where I basically spotlight 'Something Awesome'. This will happen on the last day of each month (seems more appropriate to have it at the end than the start).

So what is 'Something Awesome'? Well 'Something Awesome' can range from Artists, Music, Movies, Games and anything else that is worth mentioning! If you know 'Something Awesome' that should be mentioned on my Blog, then just share it in the comments!

'Something Awesome' this month is:

Kawaii Tanks (1:72 & 1:76 Scale)

For a while now I've been working on Tank Model Kits. The first of which is still a WIP; a 1:35 Scale KV-2. The second of which is a wide range of 1:72 & 1:76 Scale Tanks which range from anything I can get my hands on. The first 2 I've built are the Panzer IV Ausf. F2 and the Churchill MK VII.

I've been posting my progress on the ACES Forums in a kind of "Forum Blog".

Regardless; I'll repost the Progress Update for the first 2 here.

MechWarrior: Online - Timber Wolf, TBR-C (Any OmniVariant) Build

Another week; another build ay? This one's a good one though! Just as good as last week's Splat Wolf!! Well it feels pretty decent anyway. Come to think of it; all my Timber Wolves have CSRM6s... I dunno why too. They are simply fantastic!! Ok, maybe i just answered my own question.

Being more formal however; I'm finding that CSRM6s are really, really good. Hell SRMs in general; whether they are IS or Clan; they are good. Now the question of the day, are they OP? Incidentally, no. Admittedly they do very high Alpha Damage (12 per SRM6). But this damage is spread. If you have 4 lots of SRM6s that's 48 damage Alpha. Again spread and also you're limited to 270m max.

Regardless; here's my TBR-C build; but it can also be transferred to any other Variant.

MechWarrior: Online - Stormcrow (Any OmniVariant) Build

Well the first of the Theory builds is today! Since I only bought the Timber Wolf; I've been trying to convince myself I should pick up the other Clan Mechs, such as the Stormcrow and the Warhawk. So far, with my love for CSRM6s, I reckon the Stormcrow might be a pretty good Mech for myself! It mixes what I love; high speed and huge Firepower!!

And boy; on paper, this Mech seems beastly!!

Check it out right meow!

Friday, 20 June 2014

MechWarrior: Online - Timber Wolf (Any OmniVariant) Build

It's back to that time of the week!! I tell you what; Clan Mechs are not remotely OP in any way shape and form. A skilled IS pilot can easily take down an equally skilled Clan pilot. However Clan Mechs do FEEL OP when they are piloted. Least it feels that way with me in my Timber Wolf!!

With Mechs; most Mechs have a choice of 2 out of the 3. By this I mean; Speed, Firepower and Armour. Most Mechs can only pick 2. You can have Firepower and Armour, Speed and Firepower. The Timber Wolf however gets to pick all 3! It has fantastic armour (for a Heavy); a fantastic Speed of 81kph (89.1kph with Speed Tweak) and depending on how you arm him; fantastic Firepower!!

For today, my current and personal favourite build; and I tell ya, she hurts hard!

Check it out right meow!

MechWarrior: Online - Clan Mech Info (Public Test Server 2)

I didn't spend as much time on the second Clan Public Test; but I did spend a few hours messing around. There are several new features as well as bug fixes. The first of which, you might've noticed above; the Polygon pattern now actually works. It's not like it was before, a non-textured mech. All the colours have been included as well!

Thanks to the extra CBills and GXP; I managed to test out a fully mastered Timber Wolf as well as the new module, Radar Deprivation. I also have come to the conclusion of exactly what build I shall be going for, and as usual, I'll make sure to post them up once the Smurfy MechLab has the Clan Mechs implemented!

Friday, 13 June 2014

MechWarrior: Online - Clan Mech Info (Public Test Server)

Oh my, oh my!! Where to begin!? I've been messing around on the Public Tester Server for Clan Mechs for a good portion of the day! Or nearly the whole day!! And my oh my was it a blast!! Clan Mechs are simply AWESOME ♪

Ok truth be told; all I bought was just the Timber Wolf; and really, the Timber Wolf is really all you need. IMHO from what I've played and seen, the Timber Wolf is most definitely Meta. It has Jump Jets and can (so far) transfer those Jump Jets to any and all other variants!! In addition; it's got a very broad set of Hardpoints so it can mount most weapons in any order. Expect a lot of Min Max.

Now I didn't get to play with any other Clan Mechs; but I was dropping with Shimmering Sword and company. Yes I do know Shimmering Sword and do, on occasions when I catch him; have a few drops. Anyway, we were dropping in and discussing other Clan Mechs. The Dire Wolf is a fantastic Pugging Mech once you Master or at least Speed Tweak the damned slow thing; 48kph to 54 kph is a huge difference! In addition; it is totally possible to mount 6 Clan Ultra AC5s or 6 Clan Ultra AC2s! Alternatively Shimmering mounted a nice Alpha of 60 damage build!!

Recommended Horus Heresy Novels

If there's one thing I love; it's a good... no make that fantastic read! By read, I mean novels. I might have a strong hatred for Games Workshop's current policy; but even then, that hatred doesn't extend to both The Black Library and Forge World. Least I care not for either; other than keep giving me awesome quality stuff!!

Regardless; out of the whole entirety of the Warhammer 40K lore; my favourite stories are related to the Horus Heresy. For today; I shall be giving you a list of MUST READ Horus Heresy novels. These are my personal favourites!

MechWarrior: Online - Clan Mech Variants Revealed!

Well guess what? Once again I'm late to the party! But meh; I've been busy with life, since I unfortunately have one ;)

Regardless, the Clan Mech Variants have been revealed and they're not what you'd expect. However you can expect a "what you see is what you get" in terms of hardpoints.

MechWarrior: Online - Shadow Hawk SHD-2K Build

Guess it's become commonplace for me to make an effort to "master" both Medium and Heavy Mechs. By "master" I don't mean just get full Basic, Elite and Master, by "master" I mean no matter the Mech I make sure I can do well it that Mech. Seems like the SHawks (and most Mediums) are just my thing!

Truth I still prefer my Heavies; but then, I love my Mediums too. Annoying how this applies to everything I play too; War Thunder Ground Forces; I play better in Medium Tanks than I do Heavies :P
Speed is the essence of war. Take advantage of the enemy's unpreparedness; travel by unexpected routes and strike him where he has taken no precautions.

MechWarrior: Online - Battlemaser BLR-1D Build

I'm really loving my Battlemasters now; maybe because of that annoying AC/2 nerf I'm now starting to pilot practically all my mechs. That or all my mechs want to prove themselves to be just as powerful as my former favourite Triple AC/2 Hawk.

Also, you might notice I've been using Screenshots of my own mechs now; rather than the default image of the mech variant. This is partly due to my love for my new colour scheme; but also because the default image doesn't show the fantastic appearance of a modified mech!

Anyway, you might notice this build is extremely similar to another build of mine; just a tad faster; and in the form of a Master of the Battle!

Check it out right meow!

MechWarrior: Online - Thunderbolt TDR-9SE Build

This is one of my personal favourite Thunderbolt variants! Primarily because of the Jump Jets. I can easily mount dual PPCs and still be able to retain that Standard Engine (Thunderbolts with XLs die all too eaily; I've learnt that by both piloting them and mostly killing them via Side Torso).

I actually reckon it's a major strength of the Thunderbolt, able to utilise a Standard Engine whilst using most of its Hardpoints (emphasis on most).

Regardless, this is the build that my TDR-9SE uses since I first got it (it literally hasn't changed at all).

MechWarrior: Online - Stalker STK-5M Build

Like I said before in my Thunderbolt TDR-5SS Build; there's an incoming Stalker build and this is it! This is a super old STK-5M build of mine, way back in the day before Ghost Heat!! Who knew it would still work and melt faces here in the Ghost Heat days?!

Oh and normally in terms of Weapon Groups; I've never actually assigned (and used) all 6 Weapon Groups; I normally use like a maximum of 4... Not with this build!! You'll be wanting a mouse with at least an extra 4 buttons! I use a Logitech G300. Work's a charm, specially for this build!

Anyway I love this build; probs gonna mount a similar build onto my Misery and Battlemasters!

MechWarrior: Online - Thunderbolt TDR-5SS Build

This is probably one of the best builds for this (partially) underwhelming Thunderbolt variant. Still; I quite enjoy piloting it; least ever since the AC/2 nerf bat; I no longer bother to pilot my beloved Shadow Hawks and Ballistic mechs.

However; it's only now I realise how potent pure (and a massive amount of) lasers can be!

Check it out right meow! Before I melt yo face with mah lazors!!

MechWarrior: Online - Thunderbolt TDR-9S Build

Well thanks to this weekend's event I managed to pick up the 4th (and currently unreleased) Thunderbolt variant, the TDR-9S. Truth be told; if all the other Phoenix Mechs get an extra 2 variants, the Thunderbolt also deserves 2!! Not just simply 1 or free!! I vote that we get the TDR-7SE!!

What does the TDR-7SE come with? Well a Gauss Rifle, 3 Medium Pulse Lasers in the Torso and 1 Medium Pulse Laser in the Left Arm. Ok, nothing special... BUT it comes with ECM!! We NEED a heavy mech with ECM, and I believe the Thunderbolt deserves it!! Hell I'll take it as a Hero Thunderbolt! I don't care, gimme an ECM Thunderbolt, I'd pay good MC for that!!

Now that I got that off my chest... Today is all about the TDR-9S!

Check it our right meow!

MechWarrior: Online - Victor VTR-9B Build

Back to the much loved Victors!! Well, least they're much loved by me! They're practically a Heavy Mech that's classed as an Assault!! That and Victors feed my lust for fast hard hitting Mechs!

Regardless, my VTR-9B feels like a clunkier Shadow Hawk with triple AC/2s!! Mind you, today we have 2 Builds!! Both which are AWESOME!! However the second is more troll-esque.

MechWarrior: Online - Banshee BNC-3E Build

Image courtesy of the MechWarrior: Online Wiki

I say to thee; the Banshee with 4 Ballistics in the Left Torso looks super BADASS!! It just simply looks so AWESOME!! I really wish it could have like 2 Ballistics per Torso, so it's symmetrical (queue Death the Kid); but seriously, it'll look awesome with 4 Ballistics across the Torso!!

Imagine dual AC/20 glory!! Well I reckon it'll be super cool!! Well it'll be painful for others, but it'll be awesome!!

Regardless, 4 Ballistics in one Torso is cool!! And so that's my build of the day!!

New Pokémon Mega Evolution Info!!

Normally I avoid any sort of rumour posting; it's just not me, and besides, I hate to force my readers to take a boatload of salt with the plethora of rumours that I've been told over the years.

See, as an ACES member and blogger, with my various connections within my Anime Club; I receive quite good and detailed information about various upcoming games and anime.

Regardless, I decided today will be the day I release some of the information I've been told. As per the title, the information is in regards to the Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald remake and the Mega Evolutions to be featured within the game!

MechWarrior: Online - BNC-3S Build Idea

Out of the 4 Banshee Variants (including the "La Malinche"); I reckon the BNC-3E and the BNC-3S are the best. Least Hardpoint-wise. The La Malinche has an extremely useless Missile Hardpoint... If you're gonna have a Missile Hardpoint, least have 3 or more. Any less on an Assault Mech is just useless IMHO. Why do I say 3; well look at the AS7-DDC. It has 3 Missile Hardpoints and so it can mount 3 Streaks whilst still retaining an AC/20, ECM and Large Lasers!

Regardless; the BNC-3S; is very similar to the Boar's Head; but with everything in the Torsos.
