MechWarrior: Online - Atlas (AS7-S) Build

So the freebie Atlas has been out for just over a week now! And it's high time I present to you guys a build that's been working really well. One might think it's not as powerful as some other dedicated builds. But this build works really well, and works well in a PUG environment.

However, I will say I've ran this build with my ACES buddies and we decided to do a triple Atlas group; so it was me in my AS7-S and them in their 2 D-DC's respectively. It still worked very well.

MechWarrior: Online - Warhawk, WHK-PRIME (Any OmniVariant) Build

THEORY TUESDAY

I have another Theory build in which I need a gullible guinea pig to test this for me. Truth be told; on paper this thing is a beast with an extremely high Alpha whilst still remaining (relatively) heat neutral. The DPS is also very high. I will admit that it is rather hot, but that can be negated with a Coolshot and/or an Elite-ed Warhawk.

MechWarrior: Online - Battlemaser BLR-1D Build

I'm really loving my Battlemasters now; maybe because of that annoying AC/2 nerf I'm now starting to pilot practically all my mechs. That or all my mechs want to prove themselves to be just as powerful as my former favourite Triple AC/2 Hawk.

Also, you might notice I've been using Screenshots of my own mechs now; rather than the default image of the mech variant. This is partly due to my love for my new colour scheme; but also because the default image doesn't show the fantastic appearance of a modified mech!

Anyway, you might notice this build is extremely similar to another build of mine; just a tad faster; and in the form of a Master of the Battle!

MechWarrior: Online - Stalker STK-5M Build

Like I said before in my Thunderbolt TDR-5SS Build; there's an incoming Stalker build and this is it! This is a super old STK-5M build of mine, way back in the day before Ghost Heat!! Who knew it would still work and melt faces here in the Ghost Heat days?!

Oh and normally in terms of Weapon Groups; I've never actually assigned (and used) all 6 Weapon Groups; I normally use like a maximum of 4... Not with this build!! You'll be wanting a mouse with at least an extra 4 buttons! I use a Logitech G300. Work's a charm, specially for this build!

Anyway I love this build; probs gonna mount a similar build onto my Misery and Battlemasters!

Check it out right meow!

MechWarrior: Online - Victor VTR-9B Build

Back to the much loved Victors!! Well, least they're much loved by me! They're practically a Heavy Mech that's classed as an Assault!! That and Victors feed my lust for fast hard hitting Mechs!

Regardless, my VTR-9B feels like a clunkier Shadow Hawk with triple AC/2s!! Mind you, today we have 2 Builds!! Both which are AWESOME!! However the second is more troll-esque.

MechWarrior: Online - Banshee BNC-3E Build

Image courtesy of the MechWarrior: Online Wiki

I say to thee; the Banshee with 4 Ballistics in the Left Torso looks super BADASS!! It just simply looks so AWESOME!! I really wish it could have like 2 Ballistics per Torso, so it's symmetrical (queue Death the Kid); but seriously, it'll look awesome with 4 Ballistics across the Torso!!

Imagine dual AC/20 glory!! Well I reckon it'll be super cool!! Well it'll be painful for others, but it'll be awesome!!

Regardless, 4 Ballistics in one Torso is cool!! And so that's my build of the day!!

MechWarrior: Online - BNC-3S Build Idea

Out of the 4 Banshee Variants (including the "La Malinche"); I reckon the BNC-3E and the BNC-3S are the best. Least Hardpoint-wise. The La Malinche has an extremely useless Missile Hardpoint... If you're gonna have a Missile Hardpoint, least have 3 or more. Any less on an Assault Mech is just useless IMHO. Why do I say 3; well look at the AS7-DDC. It has 3 Missile Hardpoints and so it can mount 3 Streaks whilst still retaining an AC/20, ECM and Large Lasers!

Regardless; the BNC-3S; is very similar to the Boar's Head; but with everything in the Torsos.

MechWarrior: Online - Banshee BNC-3E Build Idea

Welp the HeroMech Banshee "La Malinche" has been released!! Totally AWESOME!! Well maybe not the HeroMech, but the fact we get the Banshee!! I was really hoping it'll be the Banshee. After all, it is one of the few 95 Ton Mechs; and we were missing one.

Then again, I've never really liked the Banshee much. It was utter crap due to its underarmed-ness. No matter, MWO will rectify that by adding additional Hardpoints!!

I was expecting and begging for PGI to include the BNC-3E, as it was not only featured in the original TRO Book, but because it's the original Banshee (least in my eyes). I was also expecting it to have at least 3 Ballistic and 3 Energy Hardpoints!! My prayers have been answered!!

MechWarrior: Online - Stalker 'Build Dump'

'Build Dump' is a new segment where I basically dump a huge amount of Mech Builds in one go. These builds can range anywhere between "Tried and Tested" to a complete new "Theory Build".

Unfortunately, due to how many Mech Builds are being dumped, I won't be putting any description of how that build should be played (I'll leave that for the individual Mech Build posts).

However, I will provide the bare essential details in the following format:
Role:
Speed:
Firepower:
Armour:
Cost:

Weapon Groups
Primary Weapon Group:
Secondary Weapon Group:
Without further ado, let's dump the builds!

MechWarrior: Online - Victor Dragon Slayer Build

Image courtesy of the MechWarrior: Online Wiki

I swear, ever since that tournament, poptart builds have become so much more prevalent. I remember only ever seeing 1 or 2 every game (per side), but now I see about 8 poptarts per side. It's seriously starting to borderline ridiculous!

As I've stated previously, I cannot argue against their effectiveness. I super detest them, but they do work, and they do work well.

Anyway, I believe you can guess what sort of Dragon Slayer build, today's build is. I'll give you one guess...
If you can't beat them, join them.

MechWarrior: Online - Battlemaster BLR-1D Build

I tell you, the first time I saw the Hardpoints of the BLR-1D, I thought, wow this might be the weakest Battlemaster Variant! But then, careful thinking and trying out different Builds, I find that this Battlemaster is actually pretty cool. And it looks super BADASS with 3 Ballistic Weapons in it's Arm.

The only problem is, I can't find a build that utilises all 3 Ballistics. I either run way too slow, or way too hot. So far, I found the most optimal is to use 2 Ballistics. Least, it's worked better than 3.

This build runs quite similar to my BLR-1G(P) Build, but then again, they are very similar in Hardpoints.
The Atlas might be the "King of the Battlefield", but there's only one true "Master of the Battlefield" and that's the Battlemaster.

MechWarrior: Online - Battlemaster BLR-1G Build

I seriously suck at piloting Assault Mechs. I come to this conclusion from the fact that I lose more in an Assault Mech than I do in any other Mech (Lights notwithstanding). This doesn't make me a dreadful Assault Mech pilot. It's just that I'm not super beneficial to a team when I'm in one. Then again, every single game I've lost in a Battlemaster was due to Base Cap...

Truth be told, I average 500+ damage per game in my Battlemaster, and easily score a minimum of 1 Kill with the other 2 stolen... So I know my build works.

Anyway, a Battlemaster is a super fun Mech to play. Anyone who hasn't bought the Overlord Package, I feel super sorry for you! You're seriously missing out on so much fun!
The Atlas might be the "King of the Battlefield", but there's only one true "Master of the Battlefield" and that's the Battlemaster.

MechWarrior: Online - Boar's Head Released and Build Idea

Today is patch day! Least it's patch day down here in Australia. Remember, Time Zones are super crazy, I'm 10 Hours into the future!!

Anyway, today's Patch Notes are pretty big. Big as in, a new map, Crimson Strait; and more importantly, the most expensive and largest HeroMech to date, the Atlas HeroMech, Boar's Head!

Seems I was totally wrong. It's just a complete random HeroMech not based on any existing Custom Atlas. I was right about the Hardpoints though.

MechWarrior: Online - Stalker 5M Build (Gordos)

Image courtesy of the MechWarrior: Online Wiki

I take it people would be expecting a Beginner MechBuilds: Part 2, Heavy BattleMechs this week. However I'm still writing and judging the current Heavy Mechs to determine their worth to a new player. I find that the best Heavy Mechs for beginners is the Cataphract, Jagermech and to some degree, the Catapult (however I personally dislike the Catapult).

Instead, this week, I shall be posting a build that works quite surprisingly well. I'm not generally an Assault Mech pilot as I absolutely hate their slow speed. After all, the role I fill is a Striker or Suppressor. But when I do pilot an Assault Mech, I make sure to bring the hurt!
I reject the current Meta and substitute... errr... something else!! Now check out this build!!

MechWarrior: Online - Highlander HGN-733 Build

Image courtesy of the MechWarrior: Online Wiki

I might suck at piloting Assault Mechs, but that doesn't mean my builds for them are completely useless!! Hell these builds do work and can rake you up to 800 damage. Least this one did for me. I lost the match though... heh.

Anyway in the hands of a competent Assault Mech Pilot this thing can be deadly. Yes you suffer the Heat Penalty, but it's bearable and not much of a problem.

MechWarrior: Online - Highlander Heavy Metal Build (Chromehound)

Image courtesy of the MechWarrior: Online Wiki

I almost never pilot Assault BattleMechs. Hell I still hate them; can't put up with slow speed!! You'd think the Victor would be a good Assault Mech for me... but damn I suck. Still gotta find my niche in it. So instead of a Victor Build today, we'll get my favourite Heavy Metal build instead!!

I'll forever complain about the speed. As a MechWarrior Pilot, I've found that I'm best in a Heavy BattleMech; taking the role of Suppressor (occasionally Sniper) or Skirmisher. I've never had to lead the charge. But hell, if you charge with a bunch of Atlases... Atlai... whatever... most things go BOOM!

Rather than join the current Meta, I shall continue to deviate from it; and I assure you, this has proven to be super effective!
I reject the current Meta and substitute... errr... something else!! Now check out this build!!

MechWarrior: Online - Victor Dragon Slayer Build

Image courtesy of the MechWarrior: Online Wiki

This month, is the month of the Victorious Victor!! Yes that's right I went there. Now I haven't actually bought the Dragon Slayer. But a mate of mine did. So I just "borrowed" his account and built up a pretty decent Dragon Slayer for him (and by "borrowed" I mean kicked him off his computer whilst he was in the MechLab).

Anyway, the Dragon Slayer (and all Victors) are a somewhat odd-child BattleMech. They are an 80 Ton BattleMech, hence they're classified as an Assault BattleMech. However they're only 5 Tons heavier than the Heaviest Heavy BattleMech (75 Tons). In addition, as an Assault BattleMech, they're currently the fastest, moving at 64kph Stock.

So what does this mean? Exactly as I've said in previous posts. Think of the Victor as a Heavy, Heavy BattleMech. Or rather play it like you do a Heavy BattleMech. Don't charge head on like a normal Assault. Instead play like a Heavy Striker. Brawl when you can, but be aware of the need to retreat.
I reject the current Meta and substitute... errr... something else!! Now check out this build!!

MechWarrior: Online - Battlemaster Build Speculation

I have just 3 words to say about the Battlemaster... OH MY GOD!!! Seriously, OH MY GOD!!! I LOVE EEEET!!! I literally stayed up till 3am just so I could see the artwork. I wasn't disappointment. For me; the Battlemaster may lack its iconic (gigantic, easy to hit) domed head and the pistol style PPC, but it still totally captures the look of the Battlemaster.

The head is very much still a dome, but more angular, making it more inline with the other MW:O BattleMechs. The shoulders also look very similar to the reseen artwork as well. Hell this whole redesign pays homage to both the unseen and reseen Battlemasters.

I also really love the changes. The under-slung PPC looks really good; it matches and fits the Mech as a whole. The Medium Laser array is no longer a "V" shape, but I really love the new way it's set out.

Anyway, I hope the in-game model of this Mech isn't as fat as the (ironically not awesome) Awesome. That would really cause all of Project Phoenix to be a complete flop. Some of these redesigns look a little bit on the large end of size. Hopefully they'll be scaled correctly though.

If you take a very close look at the Project Phoenix Battlemaster, the Centre Torso appears to be very thin. This is also apparent in all the other Project Phoenix BattleMechs. This could very well be a new set of BattleMechs designed to be as survivable as the Centurion. Which can very well change the Meta.
Project Phoenix is a go! The Unseen are back! After all these years, they are back! Back with a vengeance! Welcome to the battlefield; Locust, Shadow Hawk, Thunderbolt and Battlemaster!

MechWarrior: Online - Stalker Misery Build (STK-M)

Image courtesy of the MechWarrior: Online Wiki

So the new toy we get to play with has just been released. I see a lot of cheese Misery builds. By cheese I mean 4 ER PPCs and 1 Gauss builds. These builds are really meager and weak. Any competent pilot can easily kill this build (assuming they get within range). Aim for that left Torso which is so easy to hit :)

But my build, well it's a different "All-Round" build. It can snipe and brawl when needed. It's surprisingly pretty durable!
I reject the current Meta and substitute... errr... something else!! Now check out this build!!
